Much of my energy in life has been spent trying to undo the knots that God has ordained would be with me from day 1. There was a very short man crossing at a set of lights earlier today. he was less than 5 ft tall. The thought that came to me was that he had the exact same need for recognition, love, respect than a tall, handsome, smart, talented, athletic young man. My height isn't a problem, but I,ve had a lot of adversity, which left me with permanent quiet desperation, shame, fear and stagnation. It would have been a breeze for God to do a few things in me and in my life, relent on the curses and I would have been such a happy camper. God *can* easily make me a happy man but *elects* not to. Making me happy comes at absolutely no cost to him. I could wake up with a smile on my face, hopeful, upbeat, productive, helpful etc. I did the best I could do with the lousy hand I was given. God has harmed in two ways : 1-by giving me a life in which I had no real chance to thrive and succeed in 2- knowing God could take everything that has ever plagued me and still does and rid me of it, but *chooses* not to makes it impossible for me to trust, love and respect him. What sort of eternity awaits someone who doesn't love, respect or obey God? *At minimum* God should create people who are going to have a reasonably good life or who are content to have 8-9 decades of relative misery followed by an eternity of felicity. The only reason I ever felt shame, inadequacy, fear, despair is that God carefully made me in my mother's womb to suck, to lose, to be looked down upon. God *actively* snatched me from nonexistence for a life that *he knew* was going to crush and plague me. How callous is that? ''Suck it up now, live it up in 80 years'' is God's only, trite response to perpetual losers?

Father, you should just let the beard grow, it would match your wisdom

Please pray for me (special intention) for the healing of all relationships and family and that couples will come to understand the goal in any relationship is to know God more through self awareness and understanding ourselves to listen and communicate better. Healing isn't linear, but the main reason studies has shown couples break up or go their separate ways rather knowingly or unknowingly is due to misunderstandings and lack of communication. We need to cultivate a joy to see the good in the other to avoid taking offense and work through the hurdles on earth as it is in heaven. Thank you Fr. Mike for sharing that example of Ted Lasso, I love that show and used to watch it. It's very motivating. 😊

I'm sorry your students don't know their priest-uncle better. My uncle is a priest but to me, he's my uncle first. He's was always wonderful at playing games with us when we were little. As we got older he would take us to the movie theater and on canoe trips. Even now, when I see him we talk about music and cars and just about life. If I'm talking to others who know him, I still always refer to him as "my uncle, Fr..." Because that's what he is for me. My uncle.
